Performances:

Jawan is Shah Rukh Khan’s one man show. He did the role of a powerful mass hero for the first time. He is seen in many avatars in the film. All his looks are entertaining and add a lot to the mass quotient of the film. He exudes swag and evokes emotions at the same time.

Vijay Sethupathi showed his mark in the second half. Nayanthara looks amazing and delivers a solid performance. She performed action sequences effortlessly. Deepika Padukone did a crucial role and leaves an impression. Priya Mani, Sanya Malhotra and Lehar Khan leaves an impression.

Drawbacks:

Gets predictable at times

Portions in second half

Analysis:

Director Atlee has come up with a vigilante story which has neatly blended with all commercial elements. The first half runs in back and forth screenplay technique which keeps the viewers engaging about happenings onscreen. He perfectly extracted desired emotion in flashback portions. Watching Shahrukh Khan in a powerful massy role is a treat. Especially the introduction and interval episodes are electrifying.

The second half opens with the flashback and runs on a predictable note. Several moments gives a Deja Vu feeling. Gradually the film gets back on track and has a couple of exciting episodes. The climax is again a bang on.

Anirudh’s music is not upto the mark but it is compensated with lavishly picturised songs. But, his background score has enhanced action sequences and took them to a whole new level. G K Vishnu’s cinematography looks lavish. Production values by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma are top-notch.

Rating: 3.5 / 5

Bottom-line: SRK In A Never-seen-before Explosive Actioner
