Chaibisket Films and Lahari Films jointly delivered Writer Padmabhushan earlier this year. Now they made another small-budgeted film with all newcomers, Mem Famous. The film grabbed attention through its innovative marketing campaign. Sumanth Prabhas is being introduced as an actor, writer, and director with Mem Famous. The film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it turned out to be.
Story:
Mem Famous story is about three youngsters Mai aka Mahesh (Sumanth Prabhas), Bali aka Balakrishna (Mourya Chowdhary), and Durga (Mani Aegurla) who lives aimlessly in Bandanarsampally village in Telangana. Mahesh loves Mounika (Saarya) and Balakrishna loves Bubby (Siri Raasi). The villagers always find trouble because of these three. The trio decides to mend their ways following an incident. To achieve their love and get a better life they decide to do something useful in their lives and get famous in the village. What did they do to get famous? Did Mahesh and Balakrishna succeed in their love lives? forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Hero, Writer, and Director Sumanth Prabhas is too good as an actor. Though it is his first feature film, Sumanth got into the shoes of a village guy effortlessly. He impressed with his body language and mannerisms throughout the film. His dialogue delivery and diction are too good for a first-timer.
Mourya Chowdhary and Mani Aegurla who played the role of his friends provided able support. Saarya Lakshman is natural in her role and Siri Raasi did well though she got limited scope to perform.
Anji Mama and Shiva Nandan as Lipstick Spoiler did amazingly well in the film. Kiran Macha in the sarpanch’s role leaves a mark with his impressive performance. Muralidhar Goud, Narendra Ravi, etc performed according to their roles.

Sync Sound
Lag In Second Half
Analysis:
Mem Famous has a flavor of rural Telangana with youthful characters. The first half comprises well-written scenes with good comedy. After taking a crucial turn the film seems sensible too apart from entertaining the audience. Sumanth Prabhas did a decent job for most of the first half balancing the unworthy acts of the three friends, highlighting the problems in the village, and also the romantic angle. The interval scene is impressive with an emotional angle to it.
But, the second half suffers with a slow pace bogging down the impact. This along with many repetitive scenes, turned the excitement down. But, the natural performances and comedy hold the film. The sync sound recording also not worked in favor of the film. But, again the climax was nicely handled. It is a good idea to depict the plight of the village through a song.
Kalyan Nayak’s music is impressivek. His background score is in sync with the rural backdrop. Shyam Dupati’s cinematography showcased the rustic village atmosphere in a realistic and natural way. The editing of Srujana Adusumilli is ok in the first half. Production values of Chai Bisket Films and Lahari Films are good. Producers Anurag, Sharath, and Manoharan deserve a pat on their back for believing in and backing new comers and making a quality film.
Rating: 3 / 5
Bottom line: Enjoyable Youthful Vibe
