Memu Copulam is a Telugu crime comedy web series started streaming on Zee5 from Friday. The show is directed by Pradeep Maddali and written by BVS Ravi. It stars Naga Babu, Getup Srinu, and Ravi Teja Nannimala in lead roles.
Plot
The story starts in a village where Gajapati Raju, played by Naga Babu, is a respected man. His word is final for everyone. He owns a famous rooster named Salar Raju. The rooster wins every Sankranti cockfight and is a pride of the village. One day, before the big fights, Salar Raju goes missing from a village party. Gajapati Raju gives the job of finding the rooster to SI Ravi Sotari and Constable Mohan Sotari. Ravi and Mohan think Gajapati Raju’s rivals, Mahipal Reddy and Sudhakar Reddy, may be behind this.
While the search for the rooster goes on, another problem starts. Some villagers fall sick and go to the hospital. There are also talks of small thefts in the area. Ravi and Mohan now have two jobs. They must find the missing rooster and also catch the real people behind the thefts. During this, they learn about illegal work done by some big people in the village. The series also shows a young love story between Sanghavi and Akash Reddy. Reporter Meenakshi and Giri add more fun to the plot. The main question is simple. Who took Salar Raju? And how do Ravi and Mohan save the village from bigger trouble?
Performances
Naga Babu is apt as Gajapati Raju. He looks calm and dignified. He does not overact. His settled style suits the role of a village head. He brings respect and weight to every scene. You believe his word matters in the village. Ravi Teja Nannimala as SI Ravi is a treat to watch. He plays a mix of innocence and pride. His timing in comedy scenes is very good. He delivers punches with a straight face and that makes people laugh more. He shows how a small town officer thinks and works. Getup Srinu as Constable Mohan leaves more to be desired. He is steady and supports Ravi in every plan. His reactions are natural but still not up to the mark. The scenes with Ravi Teja and Getup Srinu together work best. Their bond looks real and gives the show many laugh out loud moments.
Ritu Chowdhury as reporter Meenakshi does well. Her role has a nice twist and she handles it with ease. Kiriti Damaraju as Giri also adds value. Artiste Venky Rompelly as Sonata excelled with his timing. His performance adds more fun and value to the proceedings. Charan Lakkaraju and Siri Parvathi as the young couple are sweet. They look fresh and suit their parts. The supporting cast, including the actors playing the rivals, do their job without going loud. Everyone fits the village setup. The casting is one of the big strengths of Memu Copulam. Each actor understands the tone of the show and keeps it light.

Analysis
The Memu COPulam series has six episodes with each episode lasting from 20 – 30 minutes. During initial couple of episodes, Director Pradeep Maddali sets up the world very well. He handles multiple tracks engagingly blending both fun and suspense. The first episode introduces Gajapati Raju, the village, and the fame of Salar Raju. The missing rooster case starts quickly and brings SI Ravi and Mohan into the story. The mood is light from the start. The director, Pradeep Maddali uses small village moments to build humor. The scenes where Ravi and Mohan make plans and then fail in a funny way are enjoyable. Their idea of scene reconstruction and their self confidence give good laughs. The story keeps moving with two tracks. One is the rooster case. The other is the sudden sickness and thefts in the village. This keeps the viewer curious. As the episodes progress it raises doubt on many people. You keep guessing who took the rooster. The later episodes adds more energy. The investigation gets serious but the tone stays fun. The twist about the real thief is written in a smart and funny way. The way Ravi and Mohan stop a bigger plan and win respect from Gajapati Raju feels good. The love track and the reporter track run parallel and add color. The final episodes tie the threads well and end on a happy note. The six episode format helps. There is no drag and the story does not feel long.
On the technical side, Memu COPulam looks neat. Director Pradeep Maddali keeps a good balance between comedy and suspense. He does not make the crime part too heavy. The writing by Shobhan Chittiprolu, Chanakya Varma, and Gopalakrishna Vidmahela is simple and could have been better. The dialogues need to be more fun. Saket Komanduri’s music fits the story. The background score is not loud. It supports the mood without taking over. Cinematographer Kishore Boyidapu shows Konaseema in a natural way. The green fields, village roads, and local festivals look real and pleasant. He perfectly captures village essence. The production values from BVS Ravi are solid for an OTT show. The look and feel match a film. The editing keeps the pace smooth. Each episode ends at a point that makes you click next.
To conclude, Memu Copulam is a happy and easy watch. It takes a local topic like cockfight culture and builds a fun mystery around it. The show does not try to be too deep. It wants to entertain, and it does that well. The lead actors, strong writing, and natural visuals make it work. The message about pride, trust, and teamwork comes through without big speeches. Families can watch it together. If you like light crime stories with good comedy, this series will make you smile. It is a good step for Telugu web content that stays rooted and fun.
