Story:
Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) is a brave Indian agent who is declared dead by Indian government. What is the relation between Pathaan and Rubina and why he needs to stop Jim forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Shahrukh Khan is known for his performance in intense and emotional dramas. This time he takes us for a ride as an out and out action hero. He is terrific as unstoppable soldier who goes to any measures to stop the enemy. He is super fit and long hair suits him well. His style, swag and his witty punches are worth watching.
Deepika Padukone gets a meaty role. She oozes style and glamour on screen. She also gets into the action mode and did well in performing stunts. John Abraham stands top with his super cool looks yet as a menacing villain. He carried the role with ease and is perfect fit for antagonist role. Dimple Kapadia gets key role and she made her presence felt. Ashutosh Rana is adequate.
Highlights:
Shahrukh Khan
Confrontations Between SRK and John Abraham
Action Part
Topnotch Production Values
Drawbacks:
Lacks Emotional Depth
Logic less Action And Poor VFX
Analysis:
Pathaan starts in action mode right from the first scene itself. It keeps on churning out big action set pieces throughout the film at constant intervals. Siddharth Anand has written enough story for a spy action film but the plot is nothing new. It follows the usual template of many films in such genre. But, the neat narration along with magnanimous action part in exotic locations make Pathaan enjoyable. Bringing Salman Khan is a clever move and the placement too is well written. Scenes between SRK and Salmaan are treat to watch.
However the film lacks Emotional Depth. Every principal character has a painful backstory but they are not properly explored and showed in a hurried manner. The technicalities and extravagant action makes the film work for a major part. Music by Vishal – Shekar is peppy. Background score could have been better. Satchith Paulose’s camerawork is top-notch with vibrant visuals. Aditya Chopra’s uncompromised manner is evident in larger than life action and high quality making.
Rating: 3.25 / 5
Bottom-line: Shahrukh Khan Is Back With Extravagant Action !!
