Vijay Deverakonda latest outing ‘The Family Star’ Co-stars Mrunal Thakur has been in the news with much anticipation among the audience. The film being produced by popular producer Dil Raju in Parasuram’s direction who earlier delivered blockbuster ‘Geetha Govindam’ are primary reasons behind the hype surrounding the film. The fresh pairing of Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur also added to the prospectives. The film got released in theatres on 5th April. Let’s check-out how it fares in the review.
Story:
Govardhan (Vijay Deverakonda), a strict middle class man shoulders his joint family. He falls for a wealthy entrepreneur Indu (Mrunal Thakur) who joins their pent house as tenant. Things take turn after Govardhan knows about actual intention of Indu. What happens then? How the story between Govardhan and Indu navigates form the crux of ‘The Family Star’.
Performances:
Vijay Deverakonda is the main highlight of the film. He who is usually energetic on and off screen looks soft, subtle and contended in the film. Even though his character needs to be over the top at the moments, he did it convincingly with elan. He looks simple yet impressive.
Mrunal Thakur looks beautiful onscreen and carried her character with grace. Her chemistry with Vijay Deverakonda worked out well. However her role could have been better in the later half. Others like Jagapathi Babu, Rohini Hattangadi, Vennela Kishore, Vasuki, Abhinaya, Ajay Ghosh did their parts adequately.

Drawbacks:
Thin Storyline
Less Conflict
Analysis:
Director Parasuram, came up with a relatable middle class conflict laced with love story. His story has two conflicts one with drunkard Brother and other with Heroine. He managed to drive the narrative smoothly using these conflicts. The first half is breezy with Vijay Deverakonda’s screen presence along with Mrunal. The film gets feel-good factor vibe with some well written dialogues.
However the second half shifts to US which seems out of place for sometime but with introducing core conflict and emotion, the film gets back on track and neatly wrapped up back in India again with well written scenes. Gopi Sundar’s background score elevates some scenes and provided a couple of good songs. KU Mohan’s cinematography is impressive. Marthand K Venkatesh’s editing could have been better. Production values by Sri Venkateswara Creations backed by Raju and Sirisha are top-notch.
Rating: 3/5
Bottom-line: The Entertaining & Responsible ‘Family Star’
