In Vizag, a disinterested coach Aditya (Venkatesh) discovers Rameshwari aka Ramudu (Ritika Singh) who is a natural boxer. How he takes the rookie Ramudu (Ritika Singh) to national fame is the core story of the film.

Performances:

Venkatesh is terrific in Guru as the coach. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that this is his career best performance. The star wonderfully portrays different gamut’s of emotions in a thrilling manner. It is a treat to watch Venkatesh in each and every scene, even when he is merely looking with helplessness. Venkatesh makes us feel the pain and happiness that the character goes through and that’s the biggest “victory” of Victory Venkatesh.

Ritika is equally. She is a natural in emotional scenes. Her chemistry with Venkatesh is superb, and it elevates the proceedings. In terms emotions and boxing, she gives it all and shines all the way.

Mumtaz Sorcar has a relatively lesser part, but she too gets few moments to make her mark. The experience in handling is visible in Telugu version, but at the same time, we can also see that she has not loosened her grip on the content. She has delivered another version with an equally gripping narrative.

Right from the beginning, the drama is maintained at a high level without every going the over the top territory. It is intensely done, and that is the major sign of victory. The essential elements, the coach mentor relationship, the emotional dynamics between the woman and man, the corrupt sports authority are all neatly blended into the narrative and showcased in an efficient manner. At the end what we get a satisfying emotional watch.

Music by Santosh Narayanan is mighty good. The background score is on a similar level. The cinematography by KA Saktivel is fine. Editing by Satish Suriya is crisp. Dialogues are sharp and hard-hitting at the same time.
