Sundar (Vijay) an International Business Tycoon arrives to his home country India to cast his vote on election day. But, he finds that his vote has been casted by someone else. He fights for his vote by registering case in court. This is followed by a series a events resulted in Sundar locking horns with the Politicians. How he overcomes all the difficulties ? How he manages to win in the end forms ‘Sarkar’.<\/p>\n

Performances:<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Vijay is in terrific form as a star with all the swag and charisma in place. The energy he maintains throughout is the Sarkar\u2019s USP. His style, dances, and emotions are what carries the movie. It is, therefore, one more memorable outing for Thalapathy Vijay.<\/p>\n

Keerthy Suresh and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar are part of another big film although they don\u2019t share any scenes. The former is given a character to lighten up the proceedings, whereas the latter to bring some momentum. Both succeed in delivering what is expected from them.<\/p>\n

The rest of the cast includes notable character actors playing politicians like Radha Ravi and Pala Karuppiah. They are suitable for the parts and add to the serious drama that unfolds on screen.<\/p>\n

Director AR Murugadoss is a firebrand in Indian cinema and is known to deliver commercial entertainer revolving around a key plot involving the happenings in the society. No matter how serious is the point, Murugadoss always manages to find an excellent balance between the seriousness and entertainment. Sarkar is another prime example for the same.<\/p>\n

Right from the openings, Murugadoss wastes no time with excess and cuts to the point directly. The corporate monster followed by the illegal vote casting happens in a jiffy. The details about Section 49P follow it, and one is thoroughly engaged in the proceedings. How it all leads to the re-election and the interval block of the hero taking the challenge head-on is terrific and sure to make fans go wild.<\/p>\n

The narrative issues creep in the second half, where Murugadoss takes an easy approach in delivering the point. A speech and direct conflict with the seasoned politician or the plan that seems too obvious, they all give a feeling that something is missing, despite a lot happening. The lack of depth in the proceedings can be felt. Still, Vijay with his unique charm and charisma manages to hold the attention. He alone is responsible for the engaging moments in the second half. The climax is neatly wrapped up without stretching the whole thing further.<\/p>\n

AR Rahman has done a neat job with the background score. The songs are disappointing though. The cinematography by Girish Gangadharan is excellent. Veteran Sreekar Prasad\u2019s editing is sharp. Sun Pictures needs to be applauded for bringing a film with such timely message. The uncompromising production values and marketing skills are additional appreciative factors for Sarkar.<\/p>\n

Overall, Sarkar is an easy one-time watch for the moviegoers. For the fans, it is a treat like Vijay\u2019s past few outings.<\/p>\n
