The film is being produced by Vasudev Koppineni and Sridevi Karyampudi under the Arha Media and V Studios banners. Actress Snehha Manimegalai and director Srikanth Sangishetty are making their debut with this beautiful love story. Deewana is set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on the 19th of this month through Geetha Film Distributors.

In a recent interview, Harshith Reddy spoke about his career journey and shared several highlights about the film. “My father is originally from Miryalaguda, but I was born, raised, and educated in Hyderabad. I am very familiar with the city’s culture and lifestyle. Initially, I used to create videos for YouTube and Instagram. After watching those videos, the team at Vyjayanthi Movies selected me for Mail. It was during the COVID period, so the audition was conducted online. We stayed in a boys’ hostel in Mahabubabad and completed the entire film in a single schedule over nearly two months.

There is a dialogue in Mail where I say ‘B.Com Computers,’ and that dialogue became quite popular. Raj & DK noticed it and later cast me in Shubham. Everything happened as if it were destiny. For Kalki, director Nag Ashwin selected me without even conducting an audition. When I asked him why, he said they wanted someone whose face naturally evoked sympathy, and that I fit the description perfectly. Opportunities started coming my way when I was in my third year of B.Tech. I have also acted in two web series.

“I received the offer for Deewana even before Subham was released. I had previously worked in films like Mail and Taragathi Gadi on Aha, and that’s how I got acquainted with Vasu garu and Sridevi garu. When I heard the script, I introduced the director to them. They loved the story and came forward to produce it.

We assembled a strong team and tried to make the film as good as possible. While we were in the final stages of production, Allu Aravind garu came forward to support us. After watching the completed film, he agreed to release it through Geetha Distribution.

For every schedule of Deewana, we carefully reviewed everything, ensuring that every dialogue and scene worked effectively. We conducted extensive workshops. For every three days of shooting, we spent nearly ten days in workshops. The director prepared us with that level of intensity. That process took time, but we never had to do any reshoots. The more we discussed and understood the character, the better the performance became. We also made several improvisations on set. The entire film was shot in real locations, and the crowds seen in the scenes were actual people who had gathered to watch the shoot.

My character in Deewana is named Munna. He needed to carry the vibe of an Old City Hyderabad boy. During auditions, many authentic Hyderabadi youngsters would come in, and I observed them closely. I have personally spent time around areas like Malakpet and Kothapet. It also helped that our director is from Secunderabad.

All the characters I played until now have been soft and gentle. Since Munna was very different, it took me some time to fully get into the role. Our director wanted the character to have a Rangila-era Aamir Khan vibe. In one schedule, I performed a scene featuring the dialogue, ‘Avunra, Chillaragannera.’ After that scene, I finally understood the rhythm and energy of Munna. From then on, I kept developing the character throughout the film.

Some people said Munna gives off Arjun Reddy vibes. This comparison started after we released the dialogue ‘Naa Pillara.’ However, that is simply how many youngsters in Hyderabad speak. After Arjun Reddy, that style of modulation became very familiar to audiences. Whether the girl in the story gives me hints, teases me, or rejects me altogether is something audiences will have to discover in the film itself.

Deewana is the story of a young man who is completely immersed in love. We have seen many love stories before, but this film introduces a fresh emotional point. The interval sequence built around that point will shock audiences. For a few moments, viewers will be left stunned. We have deliberately not revealed that aspect in either the teaser or the trailer. At some point in real life, everyone becomes a ‘deewana’ for someone or something. Even our director is a deewana when it comes to love.”

Allu Aravind garu loved the film immensely. He personally called me and spoke about a few scenes, saying that I had performed them very well. Receiving appreciation from him was a wonderful feeling.

I have watched films of Megastar Chiranjeevi garu, Vijay Deverakonda, Nani, Allu Arjun, and many others. Their influence may have subconsciously shaped my acting style. However, when you watch Deewana, you won’t be reminded of Arjun Reddy. The similarities some people noticed probably come from Munna’s Hyderabadi roots and aggressive nature.

Whenever the director explained a scene, I tried to add my own personal touch and make it feel lively and natural. The actors who played my group of friends are also local Hyderabad boys. This is truly a film made by a Hyderabad and Old City gang.

Since Mail, I have treated every opportunity that comes my way as valuable. I give my complete effort to every project. Currently, I am also working on Kalki 2 and another film titled Romeo Juliet.

Deewana Is the Story of a Young Man Completely Immersed in Love; the Interval Twist Will Shock Audiences with a Fresh New Point – Hero Harshith Reddy Young and talented actor Harshith Reddy, who recently scored a success with Shubham, is now gearing up for the release of his new film Deewana.
