Deewana comes from director Sreekanth Sangishetty, who writes and directs this youth love story. The film was distributed by Geetha Arts and saw strong paid premieres before release.

Plot

Munna, played by Harshith Reddy, spends his days with friends and avoids responsibility. His easy life changes when he meets Ammu, also called Amulya, played by Smeha Manimegalai. Their meeting sparks romance, playful moments and small fights with a rival group. Family enters the picture through his father Sekhar, played by Naresh, and mother, played by Jhansi, who react to his choices in their own way. For most of the run time the story moves like a familiar campus love tale. Then an interval twist arrives that no one expects, and it shifts the film toward deeper feelings. The second half becomes about choices, family sentiment and Munna trying to reach a goal that now feels bigger than just love.

Performances

Smeha Manimegalai carries the film with confidence. He is easy in the fun, carefree scenes and shows a clear change when emotions take over. His dialogue delivery feels natural, especially in Telangana slang that connects with young viewers. He uses small mannerisms and expressions well, and he does not overdo the mass shades. The shift from a lazy youth to a responsible lover comes through his eyes and body language.

Smeha Manimegalai makes a strong debut. She looks fresh and handles both playful and emotional scenes with balance. Her performance in the preclimax and climax stands out because she brings honesty to the moment without forcing tears or drama. She reacts instead of acting, and that lifts the key scenes.

Naresh is steady as the father. He gives weight to family moments without becoming loud. Jhansi adds warmth as the mother and her timing works in both emotional and lighter scenes. Vikrant as Munna’s friend brings energy and stays convincing. Roller Raghu and Jabardasth Venu have limited screen time but leave an impression with their comic timing. Jeevan Kumar has a few loud moments, but others in the cast fit their roles well and keep the world feeling real.

Highlights

Unexpected Twist
Family Emotions

Lead Pair
Background Score

Drawbacks

Slow Pace
Routine Start

Analysis

The first half of Deewana stays light and routine by design. Munna killing time with friends, the first attraction to Ammu, college fights and small misunderstandings all feel familiar. This part builds a simple world so the audience gets comfortable with the characters. The director adds humor, a few songs and easy chemistry between the leads. Just when the film seems predictable, the interval twist lands and it is sharp and unexpected. That twist is the turning point because it makes you see the same scenes in a new way and it sets up the emotional second half. The second half moves toward family feelings, responsibility and tough choices. The preclimax builds tension in a clean way, and the climax rewards the viewer with honest emotions rather than forced drama. Sreekanth Sangishetty uses a couple of well-placed twists to keep Gen Z viewers engaged without losing the core love story.

Technically, Vamsi Patchipulusu’s cinematography adds value with clean frames and warm tones that suit the Telangana backdrop. Eswar Chand delivers youthful songs that are shot well, and his background score supports the second-half emotion strongly. The use of a familiar score at the interval bang works because it matches the mood. Hrishikesh Pasapal’s editing is serviceable, though some routine scenes in the first half could have been trimmed for pace. Dialogues are simple and the accent adds local flavor. Production values stay neat throughout. Overall, Deewana succeeds because it balances a familiar love story with a brave twist and strong emotional payoff. It is a positive, feel-good film that trusts its actors and ends on a hopeful note.

Rating: 3.5/5

Bottom-line: A Fresh Love Story With Heart And Surprises

Deewana Movie Review Movie: Deewana Release Date: 20 June 2026 CBFC Rating: Runtime: Cast: Harshith Reddy M, Smeha Manimegalai Music: Eswar chand DOP: Vamsi Patchipulusu Editor: Hrishikesh Pasapal Producers: Arha Media, Vasudev Koppineni, Sridevi Karyampudi Written & Directed by: Sreekanth Sangishetty Harshith Reddy, who won attention with Kalki, Subham, returns with Deewana, a romantic entertainer […]

[4,24,11,14,17
70694,70057,70696,70689,70693,70691,70695,35210,4480,64753,70692,7384,70126,70670
13652,9471,8910,9242,44561,9434,10861,9396,9240,9205
