That journey itself deserves applause. Releasing as an Indian Telugu International English film, Impure hits theatres today on October 2nd, with a promise to discuss modern relationships, social media validation, and patriarchy without any filter.

Plot

The film follows three interconnected lives searching for acceptance in a judgmental world. Sandhya (Yashna Muthuluri) faces the harshest rejection when her wedding is called off on the wedding day itself after she honestly admits to her past relationship and intimacy with her ex. Her cousin Veera (Varahi Mallipamula), desperate for social media likes, posts this private matter online, which brings massive social stigma to Sandhya. Left desperate to end this nightmare, Sandhya and her parents try to find a new match, but societal judgement keeps failing them.

Parallelly, Veera starts feeling regret for her actions, but she herself is caught in her own battle as she discovers her husband is homosexual and tries to find new hobbies to keep herself occupied. Their common friend Pranav (Sai Krishna) moves to Hyderabad with dreams of becoming an actor, only to face the harsh struggles of the industry. What happens to these three individuals as they learn to take control of their lives and choose the right path over easy escape routes, forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Yashna Muthuluri is the heart and soul of Impure and delivers a performance full of potential and grace. She is a natural talent with expressive eyes that sparkle whenever she emotes pain, hope, or anger. She has all the skills to become a very good actor and this film is a strong showcase of her abilities.

Varahi Mallipamula as Veera plays a complex, flawed and very human character. Her portrayal of a woman who initially seeks validation through likes and later understands the value of real choices is subtle and sincere. She brings authenticity to the role of a confused modern woman.

Sai Krishna as Pranav is apt and relatable as the struggling actor friend, representing every outsider’s dream. The actors who played the parents are exceptionally good, bringing emotional depth and traditional conflict to the narrative. The entire cast supports the film’s honest theme with heartfelt performances.

Highlights

Bold Theme
Yashna Performance
Honest Writing
Relevant Message

Drawbacks

Minor Repetitions
Needs Sharpness

Analysis

The first half of the film is set up brilliantly. It introduces Sandhya’s heartbreaking rejection and the social media fallout in the first ten minutes with some sharp and witty one liners that immediately grabs attention. The narrative establishes the three lives and their need for validation in a simple, engaging manner. The second half takes a deeper, more introspective route as each character realizes when to take their lives into their own hands. Instead of being repetitive, this portion beautifully explores their journey towards self realization, choosing the right path when easy way outs are everywhere. It makes the film about women’s voice and empowerment in a broad and meaningful way.

On the technical front, the film is commendably bold. The bilingual blend of English and Telugu dialogues is not a drawback but a realistic representation of how today’s youth actually speaks, especially in Hyderabad and in the international context, adding authenticity. The writing by Varahi is courageous as it tries to question freedom and patriarchy through the same lens, and it succeeds in starting a very important conversation. Though the script could have had even more sharpness, its basic theme is powerful and relevant. The production values are honest and support the independent spirit of the film. Overall, Impure is a brave film with few good ideas that land with honesty and courage.

Rating: 3.25 / 5

Bottom-line: A Bold, Honest and Much-Needed Voice

Impure Movie Review Movie: Impure Release Date: 2 Oct 2 2026 CBFC Rating: A Run-time: 1h 42m Cast: Yashna Muthuluri, Varahi Mallipamula, Sai Krishna, RJ Kajal, Kireeti Damaraju Music: Nirvan Athreya, Raja Kumari, Karan Pandav Cinematography: Gnanasekar VS Written by Nishanti Evani, Varahi Mallipamula Produced by Varahi Mallipamula, Sridevi Mallipamula Directed by Nishanti Evani Impure story […]

[24,11,14,17
71622,71713,71714,71675,71715
8910,23807,17040,9285,15699,13633,10077,45776,9236,14264
post-578854","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-movies","category-news","category-reviews","category-slideshow","tag-impure","tag-impure-telugu-movie-review-rating","tag-nishanti-evani","tag-varahi-mallipamula","tag-yashna-muthuluri
["GET
