Summer Holidays, produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni along with Giribabu Vallabaneni written and directed by Srikar Nayan G, is a Telugu family drama that captures childhood innocence. Released on November 6, 2026, it stars Rohan Roy and Arun Dev, with Jayasudha, Rajeev Kanakala, Harsha Vardhan, and Vasuki Anand in key roles.

Plot

Ravuri Venkatesh, fondly called RV (Arun Dev), is a city boy who loves cricket but lives under the constant pressure of securing the first rank. When he secures the tenth rank, his disappointed father scolds him, and his mother sends him to his grandmother Susheelamma’s village, Thotavaripalem, for the summer holidays. There, RV meets Kashi Venkateshwarlu, fondly called KV (Rohan Roy), a cheerful newspaper delivery boy studying in the village school. KV dreams of buying a new saree for his mother and takes mango trees on lease from Varma (Rajeev Kanakala) to earn money through cultivation. As RV and KV spend the summer together, their friendship grows beautifully, changing the way they look at life, dreams, and happiness. The story underneath moves towards whether marks alone define a child’s life, and whether a father’s perspective can change with love and understanding.

Performances

Rohan Roy and Arun Dev are the heart and soul of the film, and their performances are truly adorable. Rohan, as KV, brings remarkable confidence, natural innocence, and emotional depth. His spirited attitude, mischievous smile, and sincere desire to make his mother happy make the character instantly lovable. Arun, as RV, portrays fear, longing, curiosity, and gradual transformation with great sensitivity. His journey from a pressured city boy to a free and joyful child feels completely genuine. Together, their chemistry is the backbone of the film, and their friendship looks real, pure, and deeply moving.

Jayasudha is excellent as grandmother Susheelamma. Her warmth, affection, and emotional strength bring tears, especially in the climax. She creates an instant connection with the audience, reminding everyone of their own grandmother. Harsha Vardhan and Vasuki Anand are dependable and convincing as RV’s parents, portraying parental concern and rigidity with balance. Harshini Koduri is a pleasant surprise as KV’s mother, delivering a natural and touching performance in the emotional portions. Rajeev Kanakala and Ramana Bhargav leave a strong mark in their key roles, while Kushi Soni, Mahesh Chintala, and others add charm and authenticity to the village world.

Analysis

The first half beautifully captures childhood nostalgia through the school song, cricket sequences, playful humour, and the sweet beginning of RV and KV’s friendship. The village atmosphere feels fresh, and every small moment reminds us of our own summer holidays. The second half shifts focus to the mango cultivation and the boys’ determination, bringing stronger emotions and a satisfying climax. Though a few moments are predictable and some scenes feel slightly stretched, the emotional sincerity never fades. Director Srikar Nayan blends humour and sentiment effectively, presenting a meaningful message that children should not be burdened only with marks and ranks, and that parents should protect their childhood with love and patience.

Technically, the film is a well crafted product within its budget. Saiprakash Ummadisingu’s cinematography beautifully captures the mango orchards, village lanes, and golden summer light, giving the film a rooted and refreshing feel. Sinjith Yerramilli’s soulful songs, including the Crush, School, and Friendship songs, along with his heart touching background score, elevate the emotions wonderfully. Kondalrao Addagalla’s authentic dialogues leave a lasting impact, while neat editing, impressive production design, and suitable costumes enhance the overall quality. Summer Holidays is a clean, pleasant, and feel good family entertainer that celebrates grandparents, friendship, and the simple joys of childhood, making it a delightful watch for the entire family.
