The film raises huge expectations for a stylish and entertaining police drama as Jithu Madhavan, the director of Aavesham collaborated with Suriya playing a police officer once again.
Plot
The story revolves around DSP Premraj (Suriya), a police officer who stays away from the force for unknown and mysterious reasons. When he is entrusted with the responsibility of reopening an unsolved case, his investigation slowly unravels startling truths that change the course of his life. What made Premraj stay away from the police force, what shocking findings he discovers during the investigation, and how the case is connected to his house help / girlfriend Maya (Nazriya Nazim), his father (Anandraj), Stephen (Lal), Eeswaran (Naslen), and Inspector Sibi (Rajpriyan) form the crux of the film.
Performances
Suriya looks young, energetic, and dashing on screen, delivering a performance that is both stylish and deeply entertaining. As DSP Premraj, he brings wonderful variations in expressions and emotions, portraying an unpredictable and eccentric police officer with remarkable ease. Suriya proves once again why he is one of the most versatile actors in Indian cinema, balancing intensity, humour, and vulnerability in a single character.
Naslen delivers a chilling and impressive performance as Eeswaran, and his psychological battle with Suriya becomes one of the most engaging aspects of the film. Their confrontations are intense, layered, and filled with tension, adding depth to the narrative. Nazriya is charming and confident as Maya, handling action sequences with ease and sharing an attractive and lively chemistry with Suriya. Analysis
The first half begins in an interesting manner, with Jithu Madhavan introducing Suriya in a typical stylish way and setting up the investigation with engaging proceedings. The dialogues between the three cops, the hilarious elements in the backdrop of a serious tone, and the gradual unfolding of clues make the first half a decent and entertaining watch. The second half takes the story deeper into the investigation, with more twists, emotional connections, and the gripping psychological face off between Suriya and Naslen. While a few scenes could have been tighter, the narrative maintains its curiosity, and the climax brings the story to a satisfying and meaningful conclusion, highlighting Premraj’s transformation.
Technically, Scene is a stylish and well crafted film. Sushin Shyam’s breezy and groovy background score is a major highlight, elevating the scenes with an innovative and quirky musical flavour that perfectly matches the film’s tone. Vineeth Augustin’s cinematography beautifully captures the mood and genre, adding richness and visual appeal to every frame. Ajmal Sabu’s editing keeps the proceedings largely engaging, while the production values are adequate and support the grand presentation. Overall, Scene is a fun, stylish, and engaging investigative entertainer that works mainly because of Suriya’s magnetic performance, entertaining moments, and Jithu Madhavan’s fresh presentation. It is a positive and enjoyable watch for audiences who love a mix of investigation, humour, and star power.
