STORY :
‘Khakee’ is based on true events happened between 1995 to 2005. Dheeraj (Karthi) is a tough cop who works as DSP in Tamil Nadu. He comes across a case of brutal robbery, he finds that there were similar kind of cases in the past too which were left by Police Department due to lack of proper evidence. Dheeraj decides to further investigate the case and finds out that a gang of dacoits from Rajasthan are behind these horrible crimes. How Dheeraj catches and eliminates the entire gang forms ‘Khakee’.
PERFORMANCES :
Karthi excelled in a cop role with his fit and suave looks. He breathes life into the role with his intense performance. He perfectly emoted the determination of a cop who is hell bent to nab the criminals throughout the film. Karthi gave a top class performance as Dheeraj.
Rakul Preet did the role of wife and she looks beautiful in this film. Her chemistry with Karthi in first half works out well. Abhimanyu Singh is perfect as a ruthless dacoit. Bose Venkat, Narra Srinivas, Surender Thakur are adequate in other roles.

ANALYSIS :
Director H.Vinoth’s engaging screenplay is the main highlight of the film which keeps us glued to the screen till the end. Director made a lot of research and cleverly infused actual events into the script. After a brief romantic track between the lead pair, Story shifts to main track. It becomes edge of the seat thriller with tight screenplay and continuous action blocks. Pre-Interval robbery sequence and bus chase sequence in second half are breath taking. Lesser duration would have worked in favor of the film. Though it gets slow and predictable at times in second half, realistic approach in dealing a cop story made ‘Khakee’ a gripping drama.
Cinematography by Sathya Sooryan is brilliant especially during action sequences in Rajasthan. Editing by Shiva Nandeeswaran is slick. More than music Ghibran scored with terrific BGM. Production Values by Dream Warrior Pictures are top class. Telugu dubbing is neatly done with local flavor by Aditya Music.
