A.R. Rahman to perform and screen ‘99 Songs’ at Busan International Film Festival

It is already known that Oscar award-winning music composer AR Rahman would be penning and producing a film titled ’99 Songs’ under his banner YM Studios which is touted to be musical romance. The film is a sensual story about art and self-discovery of a struggling singer who wants to be a successful music composer.

Now the latest update is that this film will be screened at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and this music maestro will also perform live at the festival. He is quite popular in this part of the world and is known in Korea for scoring music for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ in 2009, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Song and Best Original Score.

Excited about the screening, Rahman said: “I am delighted to be a part of this amazing gathering of film enthusiasts and have the screening of our labor of love at BIFF. The film’s music is very special and so integral to its story that I feel compelled to introduce it to audiences at this very special event before the screening. I’m looking forward to bringing them this celebration of cinema and music and can’t wait for the reactions.”

The film has Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas play the lead roles which are being directed by well-known ad filmmaker Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy of ‘The Dewarists’ (season 1) and ‘Bring on the Night’ fame.
