‘Secret Soldier’ Action Will Be Very Realistic. A Spy Drama That Connects With Everyone: Hero Surya Srinivas
‘Secret Soldier’ is a unique spy drama starring Nihal Kodati and Surya Srinivas in the lead roles, directed by Akki Viswanath Reddy. Produced under the Moon Light Dreams banner, the film features Kamal Kamaraju, Raghu Babu, Rangasthalam Mahesh, Srinivas Vadlamani and Srikanth Iyengar in key roles. The promotional content has already created a good buzz, while the teaser and trailer have raised expectations with their unique concept, engaging presentation, action, thrills and humour. The film is set to release on September 18. On this occasion, Surya Srinivas spoke to the media and shared several details about the movie.
How did the journey that began as ‘China Piece’ turn into ‘Secret Soldier’?
– We initially released the teaser under the title ‘China Piece’ and also released two songs. We carried out a lot of marketing with the same title. We submitted the film for censor in March, but the censor authorities raised certain objections. The film went through review committees, the EBC Chairman, the Ministry of External Affairs and several other levels before we received the final list of observations. The first point was that the title ‘China Piece’ could not be used. Considering the story, its concept and intention, we felt ‘Secret Soldier’ would be a more suitable title, so we chose it.
– Although the film remained with the censor authorities for nearly eight months, there were no issues with the core idea or intention behind the film. Our director Viswanath worked extremely hard. We never compromised on the content. Only a few minor cuts were suggested from a visual perspective.
What kind of action can audiences expect from this film?
– This is a spy drama, and the spy action in the film will be very realistic.
What is the story about?
– A crucial piece of information related to India gets leaked. What is the connection between that incident and two ordinary young men living a simple life in Nellore? Whether they are able to solve the problem or not forms the basic storyline.
The first half has very good friendship emotions. It will be interesting to see how two characters enter this world. There is good humour and several twists. Ultimately, the film also turns into a beautiful story about friendship.
Very few films have explored the emotions of friendship and patriotism together. Audiences are going to experience a new kind of emotion through this film. I am confident that people will remember me because of this movie.
How different is the film within the spy drama genre?
– Spies are often very ordinary people who live among us. We may never realise that they are actually spies. To portray that realistically, the situations and scenes have to feel very natural. The director has written the story in a very fresh manner, especially the friendship between the two friends and their journey.
Have you shown the film to anyone yet?
– Some distributors have watched our film. We also brought in a few audiences who were completely unfamiliar with the movie and screened it for them. Everyone who watched it enjoyed it beautifully. We also watch the film purely as audiences. When we look at it from that perspective, we really liked it. Everyone from the industry who watched the film said that this is the kind of story that could have been made with big stars. That made us very happy.
– The film also has some excellent VFX. We got enough time to complete the work properly. We have made the film with a lot of quality.
– The film features several prominent actors, including Kamal Kamaraju, Raghu Babu and Srikanth Iyengar. Every character is unique and has its own importance.
About upcoming films
– I am doing a bilingual film. I am also playing a prominent role in Antha Ramuloru Choosukuntaru. Apart from that, I have two more films in the pipeline.
