Director Meghna Gulzar proved her mettle with films like Raazi and Talvar. She has now teamed up with star actress Deepika Padukone for her next directorial, Chhapaak. Based on the life of acid attack survivor Lakshmi, this film will hit the screens on January 10th, 2020.
The makers are releasing the trailer on the 10th of this month. Coincidentally, it also marks the World Human Rights Day. Meghna stated that Deepika was always her choice to play the role in this film. The director was very much excited about what Deepika brings to her craft as an actress. Meghna says that Deepika and Laxmi have some physical resemblance as well, which helped the film to be realistic. She clarified that she couldn’t have made the film without Deepika and with any other one playing that role.
Vikrant Massey played the male lead role in Chhapaak. This will be Deepika’s immediate film in Hindi after 2018 release Padmaavat. She is also acting in a cameo in Ranveer Singh’s ’83.
