Darling is a unique romantic comedy entertainer starring Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh in lead roles. Directed by Aswin Raam and produced by Primeshow Entertainment’s K Niranjan Reddy, and Chaitanya Reddy, the film is creating a huge buzz with its entertaining promotional content. Darling will be released on July 19 worldwide. As the film is nearing its release, producer Chaitanya Reddy interacted with the media and shared some insights about the film.
Q: First of all congrats to you. You had big success with Hanu-Man. How is the journey as a producer?
– Thank you. Hanuman is the success of the people. We tried our best without expecting any results. The audience gave it a great success. Even today, many people say that ‘if Sundays come, our children will surely see Hanuman’. We consider this a gift given to us by God.
Q: How did it feel to do a script like Darling after Hanuman?
– The shoot started even before Hanuman’s release. The director and producer were connected to this subject. Director’s is a love marriage and ours is also a love marriage. After fourteen years of marriage, life becomes very routine. Even going to the cinema is seen as a work. How it was in the beginning… How busy life has become after children… When director Ashwin told us this point, we connected to it immediately. As soon as we heard the content, we said okay. Let’s make this movie so that it can be connected to all the family and youth audiences with humor and fun elements to make sense to this generation. ‘Darling’ is an entertainer that connects with everyone.
Q: The reason for Casting Priyadarshi, and Nabha Natesh for this story?
– The hero should have a very innocent and simple background. The heroine should be active in hi-fi and social life. The characters of the hero and heroine have equal importance. We felt that Priyadarshi and Nabha were perfect for these roles. Rehearsals were also done to immerse themselves in these roles. They did a lot of hard work.
Q: Isn’t Darling a very catchy title?
– At first, we thought of the title- Why this Kolavari. But after the success of Hanuman, we realized the importance of the title. Only youth will understand what ‘Why this Kolavari’ means. Then, we considered some other titles. In the end, we settled on Darling. But there is already a movie called Darling. And then we put Why This Kolavari as a tagline. This movie is a blend of emotion and entertainment. It is a complete family and love entertainer.
Q: Nabha had an accident. Has it had any effect on this project?
-No. We approached her only when she was back to acting. She is a big asset for this movie. Very supportive and very sweet. She plays a very positive role. The role is designed in a way to increase the respect for women.
Q: Darling has universal appeal. You got pan India exposure as producers of Hanuman. Why did you restrict to release of this movie in Telugu?
– We are releasing it in Telugu first. If the audience likes and supports it.. there is an idea to remake it with a bigger cast.
Q: You named it Darling. Are you bringing Prabhas for promotions?
-We already tried to approach. But he is very busy with Kalki. However, he lent good support to the team.
Q: About the music director?
– Vivek was very supportive. He composed wonderful songs. The background music is also excellent.
Q: Cinema is an art form. You are in both cinema and business. Which do you enjoy more?
-No day in life goes by without watching a movie or entertainment. When we were in the US, we used to browse some content for four hours a day. Cinema has become a part of life. Now I am happy to work in the same field. I enjoy business more than filmmaking. I will take care of all the business. I am qualified in business. I have done two master degrees. Technical background is there. I take care of the business very carefully. There is happiness in being successful in both fields. I give all this credibility to God and our parents. I have my family’s support. Niranjan is very supportive.
Q: What’s the status of Jai Hanuman? Is it possible to come to Sankranthi?
-Jai Hanuman is in pre-production now. The movie can’t arrive for Sankranthi. We did not expect HanuMan to become such a big hit. When taking a story like Marvel, we should be very watchful, so our idea is to take some time.
Q: Which hero is likely to appear in the role of Hanuman? Who is your personal preference?
– Lord Hanuman will decide that. We have left it to Hanuman. My personal preference is Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi. We want to tell the story of God rather than a movie. It’s god wish how he wants it to happen. We cannot forget Chiranjeevi’s support for the movie Hanuman.
Q: Who will have the final judgment of the story?
– It’s Niranjan. He is more creative than me. His subject selection is very good. My involvement is on the production side.
Q: Tell us about the next movies in the lineup.
There are many movies. We’ve announced Sai Durgha Tej’s movie. Ten more films are in pre-production. These ten films will be released in almost the next three years.
