The Telugu audiences have proved their highly diverse taste by making well-made thrillers, despite the popularity of cast and crew, big hits. Now, a fresh team of cast and crew have come together to make a psychological thriller that talks about being caught up in dreams that help you predict the future. DreamCatcher with this unique theme, released on 3rd January and let’s look at the movie in detail.
Plot:
A highly successful software engineer Dev (Prashanth Krishna) is able to predict his own future based on his dreams. He is able to secure a big promotion despite competition and he lives with his colleague, close friend Karthik (Srinivas Ramireddy). But the lucid dreams capture his imagination so much that he starts losing his reality due to fear of them coming true. He runs away from everyone to find the source of these dreams and fights to come back for his true love. Who is his true love? What is the source of the dreams? Watch the movie to know more.
Performances:
Young actor Prashanth Krishna is able to understand the assignment perfectly and he had to heavy lift most of the film with his key performance. For a debutant, he did his best in connecting us with the inner turmoil of Dev.
Aneesha Dama, Srinivas Ramireddy and Aishwarrya Holakkal did shine in their roles.

Analysis:
Young cast and crew needs to be lauded for taking such a different concept trusting audiences’ intelligence and respecting it. We can see the heavy influence of Hollywood films but the story-telling is gripping, racy and apt for the central theme. The central character feels an urgency to find a solution for his problem and the narrative is strong in these portions allowing us to experience the dilemma of the lead protagonist.
While there are few repetitive scenes and slight drag in the second hour, it doesn’t take us away from the overall experience that the director Sandeep Kakula aims to present us with this psychological thriller.
Editing by Preetham Gayathri is another asset to the film as it keeps us on the edge with sharp cuts. The editor has been able to understand the non-linear structure and keep the tension intact till the end. Praneeth Gautham Nanda’s visuals have presented Hyderabad in a different style and his work leaves you awestruck.
Production values are also good from Ciel Motion Pictures. Overall, the movie is a good attempt from a young team in pushing the boundaries of Telugu Cinema. This film deserves to be watched for their sheer daring attempt in dreaming big and also succeeding in providing a thrilling film.
