Global star Ram Charan’s latest film, Game Changer, marks a significant milestone in his career, as it’s his first collaboration with the acclaimed director Shankar Shanmugam. This film also holds special importance for Shankar, as it marks his debut in Telugu cinema, and for producer Dil Raju, as it’s his 50th milestone project. After nearly four years of anticipation, Game Changer has finally hit theaters worldwide, generating immense excitement among fans. Let’s see how the film turned out to be.
Plot:
The story revolves around Ram Nandan IAS, played by Ram Charan, a newly appointed collector in Visakhapatnam known for his unwavering integrity and dedication. His pursuit of justice puts him at odds with Bobbili Mopidevi, the son of Chief Minister Sathyamurthy, who is embroiled in illicit activities.
As the story unfolds, Mopidevi plots Ram’s downfall, getting him suspended on false charges. However, in a surprising twist, CM Sathyamurthy proposes Ram as his successor for the Chief Minister’s chair, setting the stage for a high-stakes battle of wits and power. Will Ram rise to the challenge and become CM? How far will Mopidevi go to achieve his ambitions? How Appanna is related to Ram and Satyamurthy forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Ram Charan delivers a tour-de-force performance in Game Changer, effortlessly essaying two distinct roles that showcase his remarkable acting range. As Ram Nandan, an honest and authoritative IAS officer, he commands the screen with intensity, particularly in his confrontational scenes with antagonist SJ Suryah. On the other hand, Ram Charan’s portrayal of Appanna, a man with a stutter driven by his vision of a money-less political system, is sincere and impactful, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
The supporting cast, led by SJ Suryah, is equally impressive, adding depth and complexity to the narrative. SJ Suryah, as the antagonist Mopidevi, is a force to be reckoned with, bringing a commanding screen presence, effective dialogue delivery, and subtle expressions to his role. His interactions with Ram Charan are particularly noteworthy, creating an intense cat-and-mouse dynamic that drives the plot forward. Srikanth is apt in his role and added depth to proceedings with his experience. Anjali, despite her limited screen time, leaves a strong impression, while Kiara Advani and Sunil deliver decent performances. Jayaram provides a touch of humor.
Highlights:
Ram Charan

Drawbacks:
Appanna Character Could Have Been More Developed
Love story could have been better
Analysis:
Shankar came up with his strong forte a socio political movie touching relatable issues. Ram Charan’s dual roles are undoubtedly the highlight of Game Changer, with the actor delivering exceptional performances in both characters. However, the second character, in particular, could have been explored further, especially in the film’s latter half. The emotional depth in the second half feels underdeveloped, leaving certain key moments less impactful than they could have been. The story, while engaging, is not particularly groundbreaking, and certain scenes in the first half could have been executed with more finesse. The inclusion of random romantic sequences disrupts the otherwise serious tone of the narrative.
From a technical standpoint, Shankar demonstrates his ability to craft an engaging political drama, although a few scenes in both halves could have been executed more effectively. Thaman’s music is a significant asset to the film, adding intensity and emotional depth to the narrative. Tirru’s cinematography captures the story beautifully, while Shameer and Ruben’s editing ensures the film maintains a brisk pace. The production values are rich and meet expectations.
On the whole, Game Changer is an intriguing political drama that benefits from stellar performances. Ram Charan excels in both roles, while SJ Suryah matches his intensity with a compelling performance. Their confrontations are a highlight of the film.
Rating: 3.25/5
Bottom-line: An Intriguing Political Drama with Stellar Performance From Ram Charan
