Crazy Kalyanam Is a Film with Universal Emotions That Will Appeal to Audiences Across Regions: Young Hero Akhil Raj Uddemari
‘Navarasaraya’ Dr. Naresh Vijay Krishna, Anupama Parameswaran, Tharun Bhascker, and Akhil Uddemari of Raju Weds Rambai fame are playing the lead roles in Crazy Kalyanam. The film is being produced by passionate producer Boosam Jagan Mohan Reddy under the Arrow Cinemas banner as Production No. 2 and is directed by Badrappa Gajula. Crazy Kalyanam is arriving in theatres worldwide on October 16 as a grand Dasara festive release. In a recent interview, young hero Akhil Uddemari shared the highlights of the film.
Akhil said, “I acted in a film called Vindhu Bhojanam under the production of Jagan Mohan Reddy garu. Since then, I have stayed in touch with him and his production house. When the team was working on the script of Crazy Kalyanam, they considered me for the role of Uday in the pitch deck. At that time, no one had been confirmed for the casting. The director and producer asked me whether I would play the character of Uday, and I said yes. Later, Naresh garu, Anupama, Tharun Bhascker, and others were confirmed for the cast. After that, they sent me the full script. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I liked the characters of Naresh garu and Tharun Bhascker very much. The character of Balaraju, played by Tharun Bhascker, seemed hilarious to me. My character has fun and love scenes. I wanted to make Uday’s character stand out through my performance alongside the characters of Naresh garu and Tharun Bhascker. I don’t know what Badrappa anna expected from me when he selected me, but I tried my best to appear as Uday in every way. I am happy that I got the opportunity to act with Naresh garu, Anupama, and Tharun Bhascker in this film even before the release of Raju Weds Rambai.”
He continued, “I always want to be part of a good story and a good film as an actor. I never look at the length of my character. In this film, I gave the energy and performance that my role required. Anupama played the heroine in Rowdy Boys, in which I did a small role. While watching that film, my mother told me that I should act with this girl once I became a hero. I am happy that I am now acting with Anupama in this film, fulfilling my mother’s wish. Even before I gained recognition through Raju Weds Rambai, our director and producer gave me the opportunity to play the hero opposite Anupama in Crazy Kalyanam. I respect their decision and the opportunity they have given me. I am happy to get the chance to act in such a good film. You will see in the movie how well I support Anupama’s character. Naresh garu is the real hero of this film. His character has an edge over all our characters.”
Speaking about working with Anupama and preparing for his role, Akhil said, “Initially, I was nervous about acting with Anupama, but with the support she gave me, I felt comfortable within half a day. Before doing every scene, we used to discuss how both of us should perform it. We looked at ourselves as the characters rather than as actors. Whatever film I do, I put in a hundred per cent effort. Just as I was completely involved in playing Raju in Raju Weds Rambai, I did the same amount of homework and preparation for the character of Uday in this film. Like Raju in Raju Weds Rambai, I will also appear as the boy next door in this film. Uday has completed his degree and aims to achieve a great position in life. Everyone will be able to relate to Uday’s character. There is a special energy in Uday’s character, and I believe audiences will like it.”
Akhil added, “Crazy Kalyanam is a story that happens in our village and in our homes. It is very close to our lives. Instead of appearing for three hours in a film that doesn’t work, isn’t it enough if people say that I fitted well into a good film and acted well? I strongly believe that a good film will take actors like me forward more than market considerations and commercial aspects. There is a song called Ala Sendravanka featuring Anupama and me. I consider it my good fortune that Dr. Gorati Venkanna garu has written the lyrics for that song. Although this film is set against a Telangana backdrop and features the region’s dialect, it has emotions that connect with audiences from all regions. The dialect and region cannot become obstacles to the success of a film with good content. Pellichoopulu was appreciated by audiences in Telangana as well as Andhra Pradesh.”
Concluding the interview, Akhil said, “Through my journey, I have learnt that if we believe in a goal and work hard, we will certainly reach it. I hope everyone enjoys all the films releasing this festive season. Please go to theatres and watch our film as well. Your entire family will enjoy watching Crazy Kalyanam. We are not considering any star film as competition for our movie. If their films are biryani, our film is like a sweet. Any number of films can receive audiences’ love during a festival. My next movie is Shanarathi. I believe Shanarathi will be a rooted, core-cult film.”
