Presented by Vankayalapati Murali Krishna, and produced by Beeram Sudhakara Reddy. ‘Shekar’ hit the screens on May 20. Sudhakar Impex IPL brought out the investigative thriller. With the movie becoming a box office hit, ‘Shekar’ producer Beeram Sudhakara Reddy today interacted with the media.
Here is what he said:
I hail from a small village named Tanguturu near Nandyala in the Kurnool district. My family members have been working in the judiciary. By the time I completed my studies and migrated to Hyderabad, my uncle used to be the judge of a Rangareddy district court. In 1993, I landed a job at Janapriya Syndicate and started a construction business. I then started an export company with business transactions with companies in African countries. I then founded a company in Dubai. That’s how I started growing in business.
I have had a long association with my fellow producer Boggaram Venkata Srinivas. My business association with him has been there since ‘Karthikeya’. After ‘Karthikeya’ became a big hit, I invested in ‘Kathalo Rajakumari’. Due to my partner’s personal issues, I released the movie on my own.
Rajasekhar garu has been my favourite actor. I got to work with him on ‘PSV Garuda Vega’ as well. Our remake movies have always done well. I offered the idea of producing a remake of ‘Joseph’ (Malayalam). I was in Dubai when I watched the movie. I really liked it. I felt that it would connect with the Telugu audience as well. Everyone is saying that the climax of ‘Shekar’ is amazing. Rajasekhar garu’s movie has rendered a superb message.
We have released ‘Shekar’ in 300 theatres in the Telugu States and in Karnataka. The response has been positive everywhere.
Music is quite an important element of ‘Shekar’. Anup Rubens’ music brought 40% of the hype. Rajasekhar garu and other artists have worked really hard. That’s why the movie came out so well.
Shivani Rajasekhar was cast because the audience would be able to connect with the father-daughter track easily. The audience’s response has been huge. Shivani’s performance has been praised by one and all.
This movie was made for a theatrical release and not an OTT release. Jeevitha garu is the right person to direct a subject of this variety. Everybody’s efforts have paid rich dividends today.
We have been carrying out several charity activities through Beeram Pullareddy Charitable Trusty. I received a doctorate on this front last month. I have been rendering welfare activities in Dubai as well. We helped people through Air India during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cinema is not my only profession. I have been investing in movies through my friends and acquaintances in the film industry. I have so far invested monies in 15 movies.
