Jai,Lava,Kusa (NTR) are triplets who used to play stage plays as kids. Lava & Kusa gets all the attention and popularity as Jai always kept behind the curtains because of his stammering problem. A fire accident separates them all. Lava becomes a good hearted bank manager while Kusa turns out into a petty thief. After 20 years unexpectedly Lava & Kusa meet each other and Kusa offers his help to Lava who is in problems professionally due to his extreme good nature. Suddenly these two were kidnapped by Jai aka Raavan who grew up as a big goon at some part in Orissa. Why Jai kidnapped his brothers ? What happens when the three brothers met forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Jr NTR delivers the performance of a lifetime playing triple roles as Jai Lava Kusa. The actor shows variation for each part in a very swift manner and makes each character stand out. Jai, of course, stands out with the stutter and dramatic elevation. The drama scene before the climax involving the triple roles is a testament to the acting prowess of Jr NTR. It gives a feeling of pride that such an actor belongs to Telugu cinema.

Niveda Thomas has a small role, but she makes sure that people remember her with her acting skills. Similarly, Rashi Khanna stands out with her independent but bubbly girl act. Nanditha appears in only two scenes, but she leaves a mark.

Praveen and Sathya provide comic relief that is part of the story. Sai Kumar is reliable as always in a supporting role tailor-made for him. Ronit Roy is impressive in the few scenes he gets. Brahmaji and Pradeep Rawat are limited to few scenes.

Positives:

Jr NTR’s Triple Roles
Interval Bang
Entertainment In Second Half

Negatives:

Slightly Weak Story

Analysis:

Bobby brings to us another power packed entertainer in the form of Jai Lava Kusa. It ‘s hard handling triple roles, and here director Bobby passes with flying colors. He succeeds by giving triple roles unique characterizations without taking cliché route.

Each character is given enough time and background story to engage with the audience. The first half belongs to Lava and Kusa whereas the second half is dominated by Jai. It is the Jai character which easily stands out thanks to high emotional depth given to him. Once Jai takes charge of the proceedings, Jai Lava Kusa shifts gears altogether.

Both the halves have a subtle blend of comedy and drama without ever going over the top. Much of the credit goes to Jr NTR. However, the director also needs to be credited for extracting good performance. The pre-climax easily stands out. The climax could have been trimmed a little bit. Overall, Jai Lava Kusa is a good entertainer with very less cliché content.

Devi Sri Prasad gives the situational numbers blockbuster spin. The background score continues to be impressive. Chota K Naidu’s cinematography is remarkable. The editing is decent. Production values by Kalyan Ram are excellent.

Bottom-line: Triple The Entertainer Than Usual

Rating: 3/5
