Story:
Katamarayudu (Pawan Kalyan) is an unmarried head of a family with four younger brothers to look after. What happens when he falls in love with Avantika (Shruti Haasan) is the basic story of the film.
Performances:
Pawan Kalyan is terrific as usual. What is different here compared to his past outings is a settled performance when it comes to comedy and romance. The mannerisms are visible, but they are maturely handled. In action scenes, he brings his unique style into play which makes them exciting. Overall, for fans, it is another memorable outing.
Shruti Haasan gets a role with decent involvement in the story. She is part of the narrative and plays her both parts, traditional and glamorous avatars, with equal ease.
Rao Ramesh in a separate track and Ali, in the context of the main plot, handle comedy. They both bring the house down with their widely different approaches to the characters. Prudhvi is also decent.
Ajay, Siva Balaji, Kamal Kamaraju, and Chaitanya playing the brothers are apt for their parts. Ajay clearly stands out among them followed by Siva Balaji and Chaitanya.
Nasar, Pradeep Rawat, Tarun Arora, and Narra Sreenu are all right their respective parts, however small they are in the overall scheme of things.

Analysis:
Katamarayudu is a remake of Tamil movie Veeram. Dolly who has previously directed remakes like Thadaka and Gopala Gopala take care of the film. Watching the masala fare, one can’t help but feel if the director is great at handling remakes.
The subject of the original is suitably modified to the Telugu audiences taste. A separate track has been added to bring the additional local flavor. These changes, coming in the first half, mostly, work to the advantage of the movie. There is a smooth flow and action and comedy, and romance is neatly blended into the narrative.
In the second half, there is more action and drama and less comedy. It creates a feeling of dragging. The climax with its much beaten to death sort of finish doesn’t let the film have the high it needed after a good first half. Still, the movie is thoroughly engaging with a fast-paced screenplay even if it treads a routine path.
Music by Anup Rubens is alright. Two songs in the first half elevate the proceedings. The background score is decent. The Cinematography by Prasad Murella is superb. It gives a quality look to the movie. Editing is neat. Dialogues are excellent. Production values by Northstar Entertainment are nice.
