– The reason for my make-over is Shiva Garu, my make-up artist who has been with me for the last 18 years since Boys’ time. Ajay told that we both have two different kinds of looks in this film. Ajay and I asked him to create a look that has been never seen before for my audience. It took time to grow a beard. I have received many compliments after the trailer release. I was very excited about this. This is an intense open drama film. The audience will know what’s happening but the characters don’t.

How do you scale ‘Mahasamudram’ with your ‘Rang De Basanthi’ ‘Yuva’ and ‘Kaaviyathalaivan’ ?
– Mahasamudram is a very very important film for me. All films are important for me and we can’t compare them. Mahasamudram is a very big scale film compared to other films and it is a single theatre film. Back then ‘Rang De Basanthi’ was termed as a multiplex film and it was the first film to cross 50 crores in multiplexes film. Every film has its own identity. Some directors make films for fans, some directors make mass films and create fans. Mahasamudram is a second-category film. Ajay Bhupathi is a very honest filmmaker. It’s an amazing film.

What was the research done by you regarding the script of ‘Mahasamudram’?

– We must do research for every film. As this film has a Vizag backdrop, I have spent a lot of time in Vizag. I met fishermen, I ate at many places in Vizag. I usually do a lot of homework. Ajay Bhupathi keeps everything lively. I watch him on sets for his reaction while doing a scene. ‘Mahasamudram’ will be a sure-shot theatrical blockbuster.
