Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s Peddi arrives with massive expectations. Ram Charan steps into a sports drama for the first time, guided by director Buchi Babu Sana who impressed everyone with Uppena. The collaboration itself created strong buzz. Adding more weight, Oscar winner A R Rahman scores music for the film and the album is already a chartbuster. Ram Charan’s transformed look and viral dance moves kept social media active for weeks. With Janhvi Kapoor bringing glamour, Shruti Haasan in a special song, and a solid cast including Jagapathi Babu, Shiva Rajkumar, Boman Irani, and Divyenndu Sharma making his Telugu debut, Peddi looked like a complete package. After RRR’s global fame and the setback of Game Changer, Ram Charan aims to reclaim box office glory and energize Tollywood with this film.
Plot
Peddi tells the story of a forgotten village that does not exist on India’s map. Peddi (Ram Charan) a contract laborer, becomes the face of hope. He takes on any challenge in cricket and wins respect through sheer will. Life changes for him after a shocking incident pushes him to fight for his village’s identity. His journey connects him with Achiyamma (janhvi Kapoor), Ram Bujji (Divyenndu), Appalasoori (Jagapathi Babu), Sports Authority Chairman Baiswal (Ravi Kishan), wrestler Gournaidu (Shivaraj Kumar), and many others. The film follows his rise from an unknown fighter to a symbol of pride, blending sports, emotion, and social message. Cricket and wrestling become tools for self respect and recognition in this rooted drama.
Performances
Ram Charan lives as Peddi. The physical transformation is stunning. As a cricketer and wrestler he looks authentic, and the emotional beats are delivered with controlled intensity. His eyes speak in silent moments. Dance numbers are a revelation, the choreography and his energy lift every song. He carries the entire film with conviction and elevates even routine scenes with screen presence.
Janhvi Kapoor plays Achiyamma with charm. Though the role is brief, she adds freshness and pairs well with Ram Charan. Jagapathi Babu is excellent in a tailor made emotional part and brings dignity to Appalasoori. Divyenndu Sharma starts strong and leaves a mark with his attitude. Shiva Rajkumar as wrestler Gournaidu is powerful and commands respect in his scenes. Boman Irani, Ravi Kishan, Rao Ramesh, Tarak Ponnappa, Satya, John Vijay, and Ajay Ghosh fit perfectly and support the narrative without overdoing. Each actor adds flavor to the rural setup.

The second half shifts to emotion. The pace slows, but the drama deepens. The surprise after the special song changes the tone and leads to a moving final act. Ram Charan’s performance in the climax hits hard. The film balances sports action with a message about identity and rural pride.
Technically, Peddi scores high. A R Rahman’s songs are foot tapping and his background score lifts key moments. The music feels like a strong comeback. Ratnavelu’s cinematography captures the rustic beauty and the intensity of sports sequences with clarity. Cricket and wrestling are staged on a grand scale. Editing by Naveen Nooli keeps the film engaging, though a few transitions feel abrupt. Dialogues have power and deliver hard-hitting lines when needed. Vriddhi Cinemas maintains rich production values throughout.
On the whole, Peddi is an emotional sports entertainer powered by Ram Charan’s career best effort. Buchi Babu Sana blends mass elements with heartfelt drama and delivers a film that respects both fans and families. Despite minor pacing dips and a few underwritten roles, the sincerity, music, visuals, and message make Peddi a rewarding watch. Ram Charan roars back and gives Tollywood the boost it needed.
