Riddhi Kumar made her debut with ‘Lover’ and acted in several languages along with web series. She is seen in Prabhas’s upcoming film ‘Radhe Shyam’. Here are some excerpts from her media interaction about ‘Radhe Shyam’ which is slated to hit the screens worldwide on March 11.
I am attracted to films and the glamour world right from my childhood. I started understanding the craft and art as I grew up. I now know why I want to be in films after all these years.
I studied BA in Philosophy at a college in Pune. My father is an army officer. I was brought up all over the country.
I always wanted to try different things. I worked as a beautician, tutor, dance teacher, event manager. I started modeling when I was 16. As I continued in this field, I started to understand this is what I wanted.
My role in the film ‘Radhe Shyam’ is the trigger point. I can’t reveal much about it. She is a fierce, independent character and every woman would be proud to watch. I played as an archer.
‘Radhe Shyam’ is mainly a love story. Prabhas sir’s character is a palmist who makes a prediction about my character. I played a role that makes everyone understand his powers in the film. That’s all I can say now at this stage.
I am not usually into sports that much. But, I had to learn archery for this movie. It was very tough. I started playing sports for this role.
UV Creations is an incredible production house. I never had to ask for anything. I never had any complaints. It is very disciplined and they are always time calculated.
I am very fortunate to work with Prabhas sir. Everyone in the industry calls him Darling. After meeting him, I understood why he is called a darling. He is the most humble star I ever met. He makes you feel at home.
We were shooting in Italy where I and Prabhas sir have a scene together. I was new to that kind of atmosphere. He came to me and told me to take my time before giving the shot. To be able to be yourself and portray your craft in your own way is what any artist wanted. He helped me to do that. He told me he liked my performance. That was an incredible moment and I started doing better since then. My scenes are only with Prabhas sir. With Pooja Hegde, I have got just a shot.
I have done three films before ‘Radhe Shyam’ and worked in three web series. Amazon Prime series will be out in May. Currently, I am doing a film with Kajol mam. It is a film under Revathi ma’am direction. I am playing a daughter in it.
In the current generation, Prabhas sir is the biggest star in every language. I learned from him how to stay humble. I got to chat with him about scenes, food, and Italian Pizza.
Director Radha Krishna Kumar sir wanted to tell this story as an out-of-the-world and surreal visual experience. The way he narrated it in a realistic and relatable manner is genius.
As I played the role of a sportswoman, I have to maintain strength and stamina throughout the shoot. I am not so nervous, as it is Prabhas garu and UV Creations film. I am genuinely excited to see how it will turn out. I am a little nervous about how people are going to receive my performance.
When I told my mom about this film, she was really surprised that I had bagged a Prabhas movie. She came on set the next day and felt very happy. My parents are proud of me but they always want me to be as grounded as I can. They are also very excited.
Along with Prabhas garu, I wanted to work more. There are incredible actors, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Vijay Deverakonda and so many.
I want to do more and more films with all of them. I love characters that have a graph of self-actualization and also love to do fun characters. I also want to play a detective/cop.
