‘RRR’ Roudram Ranam Rudhiram is all set to take over the box office from March 25th all over. Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and SS Rajamouli interacted with the media and shared their experiences, insights about the film. Here are the excerpts from their media interaction.
SS Rajamouli :
– I chose NTR and Ram Charan not only because of their image but also considering their personalities and acting abilities. This film also revolves around the strong bond between the leads. As Charan and NTR are very good friends offscreen too, It is an added advantage for me.
– I chose both of them accordingly to my Ram and Bheem characters. Ram’s character needs composure during tough times, Charan matches that quality whereas Bheem is innocent and is very open-minded. Tarak suits that role very well. RRR will be a double bonanza with NTR and Ram Charan.
– I didn’t follow typical calculations like screen time, no of scenes, dialogues for heroes in a multistarrer. I wanted the audience should connect with the story and they need to feel the same impact about both the heroes. The audience will get used to both of them by the time when get introduced in the film. If we try to balance everything between the heroes it would become soulless. I wanted that the audience should feel empathy towards both my heroes and they should feel what my characters are feeling onscreen. That’s the only thing I look for in my film.
– This is not the life story of Alluri Seetaramaraju and Komaram Bheem. This is a fictional story involving real characters. Even if we make a film based on a real story, we need to add drama to it. There are certain limitations to it. For RRR even though it is a fictional story we followed all necessary steps to present two real freedom fighters.
– Though the new GO about increased ticket rates is released. Still, there is a lot of confusion regarding that. So, we met AP CM Jagan Garu and he understands the problem. His assurance gave us confidence that the issue will be resolved. He said that we should increase rates as per GO so that it would benefit both the industry people and the audience.
– For any film, I only think about whether I can bring the output exactly the way I think about it. It is the constant thing that drives me for all of my films.
– Initially, we didn’t have a title. To refer to it we named it ‘RRR’. Even before we finalized the title, The audience have decided on ‘RRR’ which also depicts our names. Then we decided to go with it adding Rise Roar Revolt to it.
– With every lockdown we got time to retrospect about the film and fine-tune it. By the third lockdown when everything was finished including the censor, we concentrated on 3D. I usually don’t encourage 3D, as I feel it would decrease the scale. But, with the latest technology, we managed to bring actors and their emotions much closer to the audience with an improvised 3D version.
– Every director wants the audience should watch their film as they intended and made it. Technologies like IMAX, Dolby Vision enhance our vision.
– We can’t announce our film as a global project. Our film is being watched by Indians who were spread around the globe. That doesn’t make it a global film. When the foreigners also watch and enjoy the film then we can say we are expanding. It happened for Baahubali in Japan. I don’t think we can make it happen. So, if we make a film with good emotions rooted truthfully to our ground, hope it will connect to somewhere in the world.
– Shooting in Ukraine was a fantastic experience. We didn’t have any idea about the political turmoil that the country was undergoing at that time. We didn’t face any issues there. Since the war started I am talking to, texting the people with whom we worked to know about their condition. The stories are heart-wrenching. We hope that the conflict ends very soon.
Jr NTR :
– As Jakkanna said, I and Ram Charan bagged this project owing to our friendship. He very well knows about our strengths and weaknesses. With RRR our friendship becomes thicker.
– Every day of the shoot was memorable. I learned something or the other every single day. Either we learn something or we get scolded by Rajamouli for our mischievous acts every day. Shooting for the interval sequence was memorable. It was shot for 60 days or so. The sequence is memorable for me. It was shot in a way that so many things happen parallel at that moment. I was excited to see how Jakkanna would handle it. That’s why that sequence remains the most memorable one.
– I never felt that I should play Alluri instead of Komaram Bheem. The characters were properly etched to suit me and Charan. It’s because the film is fiction. Rajamouli knows what he wants. He makes sure he gives an actor what he deserves, needs. As an actor, you are giving constantly what he wants, besides imagining what more can be done. I like it when there is no reference. That way your vision is not limited.
– I don’t think anyone else would have made a film like ‘RRR’. Only Rajamouli could have made such a film. We are going to see multi-starrers and crossover movies after ‘RRR’. You are going to see a lot of change. I want to team up with Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Prabhas, Chiranjeevi garu, Bala babai, Venkatesh garu, Nagarjuna garu and others!
– Me and Charan didn’t share the screen with Ajay Devgn garu in the film. But, we have scenes with Alia Bhatt. We shared each other’s experiences and working styles. It helped us bond better.
– Ukraine is a fascinating place. They are friendly people. They are utmost professionals. Their dancers are very talented. They are curious about what they do, the food, the culture, the warmth… I hope things get better in Ukraine.
Ram Charan :
– I always believed that whenever ‘RRR’ gets released, the audience will watch it with the same excitement. That’s why I never tensed about the film even during corona times.
– Tarak and me both drew inspiration from one another. This journey will remain memorable for me.
– We didn’t do workshops intensively. I and Tarak spent time understanding the characters. The workshops were done by Rajamouli garu for his own analysis and to make us understand his viewpoint.
– This film is not about Alluri, his childhood, his youth, etc. I had no reference to go by. I had to go by what the director told me to do.
– The experience in Ukraine was great. It was a huge schedule. In no other country did we experience such warmth and comfort. We never felt that there was tension going on in the country. I have spoken to my security guard who guarded me there during the shoot. I have sent some money to him and his family. His 85-year-old father is on the street defending his country.
