Performances:

Nandamuri Balakrishna is a live wire and the infectious energy makes an instant connection. The actor in Balakrishna is on display when he attempts a new body language and pulls it off successfully. The dances, dialogues, and fights need no special mention. Balakrishna rocks them as only he can. The acting in Ruler is fan-pleasing one from the start to the end.

Sonal Chauhan and Vedika playing the female leads are superb. They multiply the hotness on the big screen with there sultry screen presence. The former showcases glamour in classy avatar whereas the latter does it in mass style.

Jayasudha, Prakash Raj, Nagineedu and others play essential supporting parts. They do their job with clinical precision and ease. Bhumika is seen in a special role that shines. She once again gets a meaty role and leaves one asking for more. There are a bunch of comedians working in the mass entertainer providing mass comedy. Analysis:

The story of ‘Ruler’ is wafer-thin and lacks depth. However, director KS Ravikumar knows exactly how to deal with such subjects. His expert direction is amply visible in the movie. The setup of the movie is established neatly in the first half an hour. The director also infuses comedy in the narrative and keeps the whole thing trendy at the same. The Corporate Head Balakrishna is a rockstar.

The narrative goes smoothly with action and light fun until it hits a twist in the tale. The proceedings then undergo an action turn. Balakrishna revels in all these and makes them instantly memorable. The interval bang is a feast for fans who wanted to see the star in a stylish action-packed avatar.

The second half starts well by maintaining the momentum but after a point, things start to drag. The action brings back the momentum, though. KS Ravikumar wastes no time and takes things to a logical conclusion and provides redemption. The ending will be liked by the fans. In the end, ‘Ruler’ is a mass entertainer which is meant to entertain the masses in a no holds barred fashion. It delivers on that count.

The music by Chirantan Bhatt is lively and peppy. They offer enough scope for Nandamuri Balakrishna to shake legs with glee abandon. The cinematography is excellent. The editing is crisp and takes the narrative forward in a brisk way. The dialogues have the usual flavor associated with Balakrishna starrers. The production values by C Kalyan are terrific.

Bottom-Line: NBK’s Powerful Mass Entertainer

Rating: 3/5
