‘Sabari’ Wins as Best Story Film at Dasari Film Awards 2025
Once again, the Telugu film industry has honored a path-breaking, content-driven film. ‘Sabari’, starring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the lead role, has won the Best Story Film award at the Dasari Film Awards 2025, reaffirming the value and recognition that strong, story-centric cinema continues to hold.
The film was produced by NRI Mahendra Nath Kondla as his debut venture. Choosing a powerful, emotional narrative for his very first film—and executing it with remarkable production values—reflects his commitment and passion towards meaningful cinema. Anil Katz, a debutant director directed this film and showed a lonely mother’s battle to protect her child with mixed emotions.
Released in May 2024 in theaters, ‘Sabari’ received a mixed response from audiences. However, the emotional depth of the story, the powerful portrayal of a mother’s struggle and sacrifice for her child, and her lonely fight against all odds earned the film high appreciation from the awards jury.
