Story

Mahesh (Mahesh Babu) runs a private loan recovery business in the US.  Kalaavathi (Keerthy Suresh) who is a casino addict takes a loan from him and fails to repay it. After knowing that she lied to him, Mahesh comes to India to get his money back from her father Rajendranath (Samudrakhani). But, he has to deal with much bigger problems. What is the cause, who is behind all this, and how Mahesh handles it forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Sarkaru Vaari Paata is a full-on Mahesh Babu’s show. He shoulders the entire film and pulls it off in style. In recent years we see Mahesh in more subtle roles with controlled emotions. Whereas in SVP, we see a full-blown Mahesh in every aspect. His energy, histrionics, body language, slang, comedy timing… everything is top-notch. It is clearly evident that he has enjoyed playing ‘Mahesh’ in Sarkaru Vaari Paata. He weaves magic with his charm in romantic scenes in the first half. Be it the romance with Keerthy Suresh and rage with Samuthirakani, Mahesh set the screen on fire.

Keerthy Suresh apart from her content-driven roles did a glamorous and key role in the film. She looks gorgeous and her scenes with Mahesh are a treat to watch. Keerthy’s makeover as Kalaavathy will be remembered for a long time. Samuthirakani plays the antagonist and he is perfect as a ruthless businessman politician. His confrontation scenes with Mahesh came out very well. Thanikella Bharani, Subbaraju, Vennela Kishore added value to the cast. Naga Babu and Nadhiya did well in small but important roles.

Analysis

Parasuram came up with a perfect commercial entertainer which perfectly suits Mahesh’s image and caliber. The love track between Mahesh & Keerthy Suresh stands as one of the major highlights and provides very good entertainment. The way the story slowly proceeds toward the main point has been dealt with very well with an interesting interval point.

The second half is where the film deals with the main and serious issues. The point of Bank loans and how they operate showing the difference between the middle class and high class in the society is a highly relatable point. But, at times the story gets unconventional in dealing with these issues. However, these were covered with strong emotional scenes and dialogues. Director convincingly turned the fight between Hero and Villain into a war between Hero and erred system. It is justified in the climax too by saving the villain from getting killed by the people.

Music by Thaman has already become a superhit and the man in form delivers with his pulsating BGM in Sarkaru Vaari Paata too. The cinematography by Madhie is top-class and the visuals look cool and colorful on-screen. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is neat and sets by AS Prakash are grand. Producers Naveen Yerneni, Y. Ravi Shankar, Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta deserves special mention for their uncompromising approach in delivering a top-quality product. Production values are top-notch

Rating: 4/5

Bottom Line: It’s An Out & Out Mahesh’s Thing
