Sigma, released on October 2, 2026, arrived with huge buzz and curiosity for multiple reasons. The film marks the directorial debut of Jason Vijay, son of Tamil Nadu CM Vijay, and that factor alone attracted national attention with many Telugu celebrities praising his vision and skills. Starring versatile hero Sundeep Kishan and the charming Fiara Abdullah in the lead, with music by Thaman.
Plot
Sigma story revolves around a very relatable problem of today’s youth. Guru (Sundeep Kishan) is a youngster who is under heavy debts and is struggling hard to clear them and lead a normal life. In his attempt to come out of his financial troubles quickly, he takes a risky step which unfortunately lands him in an even bigger problem.
Where this wrong turn leads him, and how he tries to overcome it forms the core. His journey gets interestingly intertwined with Sam (Fiara Abdullah), who brings love and emotional support into his life, Veerayya Reddy (Sampath Raj) who is powerful and influential, and Vincent (Shiv Pandit) who adds a dangerous edge to the proceedings. The story is about how Guru uses his wit and courage to turn his biggest crisis into his biggest opportunity.
Performances
Sundeep Kishan delivers a very sincere and mature performance as Guru. This is a role that he has done variations of before, but he brings a new level of composure and depth to it here. He perfectly portrays the anxiety of a man under debt, the helplessness and later the determination to fight back.
Fiara Abdullah as Sam is quite good and impressive. Though her role is limited, she makes a strong impression with her screen presence, beautiful expressions and lovely chemistry with Sundeep Kishan. She brings freshness to the film.
Among the supporting cast, Sampath Raj as Veerayya Reddy is fine and powerful. He brings the needed intensity and even if he goes slightly over the top at times, it suits his character’s dominance. Shiv Pandit as Vincent is stylish and menacing with his blank expressions which create a unique villainy. Raju Sundaram is a delight with his excellent comic timing and entertains whenever he appears. All the actors support the story well.

Analysis
The first half of Sigma is engaging and very relatable. Director Jason Vijay sets up Guru’s problems, his debts, and his middle class troubles in a very realistic manner. The scenes featuring his struggles and his lovely moments with the heroine are written well and keep you connected. The interval sequence, though seen in a similar format, is executed with style and adds a solid punch of interest. The second half raises the stakes. The situations may look artificial at first but they are intentionally designed to show how one wrong decision leads to a web of bigger problems. The confrontation with the antagonists is handled smartly and the pre climax and climax bring a satisfying and logical closure to Guru’s journey.
Technically, the film is strong. Jason Vijay’s story and narration for a debut Gen Z director is commendable as he handles a commercial format with confidence. Thaman’s music is a major asset, his background score is a roller coaster ride that elevates many crucial scenes brilliantly, and his tunes are catchy. Krishan Vasanth’s cinematography is in perfect sync with the narration, giving it a stylish and youthful look. Praveen KL’s editing is decent, especially in the first half, keeping the pace crisp. Dialogues are relatable and production values are neat. Overall, Sigma is an enjoyable formula with a fresh treatment.
