“Theeram Cherani Keratam”: A Well-Deserved Victory for a Heartfelt Story
In the world of cinema, some stories don’t just entertain; they touch your soul. “Theeram Cherani Keratam” (A Wave That Never Reached the Shore) is one such film. This powerful short film has received a prestigious and well-deserved honour: the Special Jury Award at the 4th International Short Film Competition. The grand event, organized by the Jatiya Telugu Saraswata Parishat, was held in Palakollu. The award was presented by the Honourable Minister for Water Resources and Development of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nimmala Ramanaidu.
This recognition is a testament to the vision and hard work of its director, Anisetty Suryaprakash Reddy, popularly known as SP. With hands-on experience as an associate director for many successful films, SP has proven his talent for storytelling. He shared that the film is based on a true incident that happened near his village, Pithapuram. He once met a young woman at the beach, endlessly waiting for her husband who went fishing and never returned. This encounter moved him deeply, and he felt a strong urge to tell the world about the difficult and risky lives of fishermen and the emotional struggles of their families.
The story of “Theeram Cherani Keratam” is a moving portrayal of love, loss, and unending hope.

Every day, Gowry goes to the seashore with a lunchbox in her hand, waiting for her husband to return from the sea. He went missing just one week after their marriage. The waves, however, only bring back silence. Yet, she keeps coming back, again and again. As she waits, she remembers the beautiful memories of the short time she spent with her husband. Her life becomes tied to that distant horizon where love, separation, and hope all merge. This film is a silent saga of sacrifice, longing, and a faith that the heart refuses to give up on.
The film was beautifully shot in real locations across the Pithapuram constituency, including Nagulapalli, Aminabad, Uppada, Moola Peta, and Konapapeta, which adds to its authenticity.

When it comes to direction, “Theeram Cherani Keratam” feels less like a short film and more like a deeply emotional cinematic experience. The execution is flawless, both technically and emotionally. The shot compositions, choice of locations, and stunning golden hour visuals are a treat for the eyes. The editing is crisp, with powerful montages, match cuts, and time-lapse shots that blend perfectly with a soulful background song. The music and background score elevate the film’s emotional depth.

The performances are truly outstanding. The female lead, Shivani Neelakantam (Blessy), delivered a masterclass in acting, winning the Best Acting (Female) award for her role. She portrayed the character of Gowry with a settled, mature performance, conveying deep emotions beautifully through her expressive eyes. The film also features an important role played by Harichandra Rayal of ‘Baahubali’ fame. The event was also graced by renowned lyric writer, Sri Anantha Sriram.
Director Anisetty Suryaprakash Reddy (SP) expressed his happiness, saying, “Even though this film has won many awards, this one is very special to me. We received awards in every category we were nominated for, and I am grateful for this recognition.”
Congratulations to Director SP and the entire cast and crew for this remarkable achievement. We wish them the very best for all their future projects.
