Ghattamaneni Sivaramakrishna turned Superstar Krishna has a legion of fans for his daring and dashing attitude both on and off screen. The Iconic actor has breathed his last at 4:09 AM on November 15, 2022. He was 79 and is survived by a son and actor Mahesh Babu, and daughters Padmavati, Manjula, and Priyadarshini. It’s been barely weeks since the demise of his first wife Indira Devi on September 28, 2022. His second wife Vijaya Nirmala passed away in 2019. His eldest son Ramesh Babu passed away in January this year.
Krishna gari career spanned for over five decades starring in more than 350 films. This ‘Daring and Dashing Hero’, was a pioneer in experiments and adopting emerging technologies.He has introduced many First’s to Telugu Cinema.He produced and acted in the first cinema-scope Telugu film, the award-winning Alluri Seetharama Raju. He also produced and directed the first 70 MM film in Telugu ‘Simhasanam’ and also acted in it. He was also the one who introduced cowboy films in Telugu cinema with Mosagallaku Mosagadu, Bond-like spy action thrillers with Gudachari 116, Agent Gopi, and James Bond 777.
Krishna was introduced as an actor with Thene Manasulu in 1965. He made many family and rural dramas like Pandanti Kapuram , Pachani Samsaram, Ooriki Monagadu and many more. Krishna Garu also starred in multistarrers with NTR Garu and ANR Garu in Akka Chellelu and Devudu Chesina Manushulu. He acted the most with Vijayanirmala and Jayaprada in 40 films each.
Krishna along with his brothers established Padmalaya Studios in 1971 and produced Telugu, Hindi and Tamil films also. He was conferred with Padmabhushan in 2009. Krishna Garu also was contested in general elections elected as member of parliament from Eluru constituency in 1989 from Congress party influenced by late Rajiv Gandhi.
Krishna Garu was considered as Sankranthi Monagadu in trade circles. His 30 films got released for Sankranthi in his career. Out of 30 films more than 20 turned into Superhits and 6 films became successful. Krishna garu is also known for his kind heartedness. It is well known in the industry about Krishna Garu doing films for free to cover the loses of producers. With the demise of Krishna Garu, An era has been ended in Telugu Cinema.
