SHAKEELA is a woman-centric Telugu film, inspired by a true story of a well-known adult star of the South Indian Film Industry who rose to fame in the 1990s because of her portrayal of a sex siren as she did umpteen porn films that had an audience of its own. In fact, her films were so popular that every week she had a release thus giving tough competition to the top stars of the industry.
This film is written and directed by Indrajit Lankesh & stars Richa Chadda, Pankaj Tripathi, Ester Noronha, Rajeev Pillai, Sheeva Rana, Kajol Chugh, and Sandeep Malani.
SHAKEELA is originally made in Hindi and is dubbed in all south languages.
UFO MOVIEZ Successfully released the Hindi /Tamil & Kannada version on 25th Dec Pan India (Excluding AP & TS) on 900+ Screens.
Meanwhile, the trailer of the film’s Telugu version is released. Going by the trailer, the film portrays the hardships of SHAKEELA as she had to face lots of criticism, insults, and betrayals from her own family members and the film fraternity who were influential in getting her films banned.
Richa Chadda comes up with a stellar performance and Pankaj Tripathi is equally good.
UFO Moviez, one of the top players in Digital cinema, is releasing the film in all south languages as well. SHAKEELA is slated for a grand release on January 1st New Year 2021 in Cinemas across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Produced by Sammy Nanwani and Saravana Prasad, it is been presented by Prakash Palani. Sundeep Malani is the associate producer, while DOP is by Santosh Rai Pathaje and editing by Ballu Saluja. The film is written by famous writer Janardhan Maharishi. It’s Sammy’s Magic Cinema, Innovative Film Academy, and Palani International Media Works Presentation.
The film was shot in Tirthahalli in Karnataka to match the Kerala backdrop and most of the film was shot in Innovative Filmcity, Bangalore. The film has three songs of which the title song is being composed by Bollywood music director Meet Bros and two songs by Veer Samarth.
Although the film has been certified ‘A’ due to the strong language and bold content, the film has been appreciated by the Censor Board Committee in all languages. They loved the film and appreciated its theme and wonderful message.
Zee Music has bought the audio rights.
