Hero Suriya is a familiar name in the south film industry. Though he is a Tamil-based star, Suriya is quite popular in Tollywood and Mollywood too. Suriya made his debut as a hero in 1997 with Nerukku Ner. His first breakthrough came with Bala directorial, Nandha and tasted commercial success with Kaakka Kaakka Directed by Gautham Menon. Suriya’s stardom multiplied with Blockbusters Ghajini and Singam. With these films dubbed versions, Suriya became a star in Telugu too. Since then, his films garner very good openings on par with straight films in Tollywood.
Suriya is also a philanthropist, one of those who always take initial steps for social causes. He founded Agaram Foundation to do charity work. His recent films Sooraarai Pottru, and Jai Bhim have received critical acclaim globally. He even won National Award for his stellar performance in Soorarai Pottru. Suriya was also honored with Oscar Invitation to be a part of the jury this year. He has completed 25 glorious years of a successful career.
