Plot
Set against lush paddy fields and close-knit village lanes, Hyy Chikitha follows Shiva alias BP, played by Abhinav Manikanta, a hardworking farmer deeply in love with his childhood relative Chitti, played by Divija Prabhakar. Chitti’s father sets one condition for their marriage: Shiva must secure a government job.
This demand pushes Shiva to question how society values farming versus salaried work. As BP navigates love, peer pressure, and self-respect, the story explores friendships, family expectations, and the unseen struggles of agrarian life. Without becoming preachy, the narrative uses romance and humor to arrive at a sincere message about respecting those who feed the nation.
Performances
Abhinav Manikanta anchors the film as BP. He brings a natural body language to the role of a spirited village youth. His dance energy in the folk numbers adds mass appeal, while his quieter moments, especially when he confronts the stigma around farming, show maturity.
Divija Prabhakar, daughter of noted actor ETV Prabhakar, is a delightful surprise. She brings innocence and spark to Chitti without overplaying the “village belle” trope. Her biggest strength is dialogue delivery,.the casual mix of Telugu and English feels contemporary and makes Chitti relatable to today’s youth. Divija balances charm with emotional weight in key scenes where she stands between love and family pressure. Coming from a film background, she uses it to serve the character rather than dominate it.
Thanmai Kushi fits well in her supporting part, while veterans Devi Prasad, ETV Prabhakar, Anji Mama, and Balagam Sujatha provide gravitas and humor. ETV Prabhakar, in particular, brings weight to the father’s role, making the central conflict believable. The friend circle led by Ajay Jabardasth and others adds energy and keeps the first half lively.

The first half of Hyy Chikitha focuses on establishing BP’s world, college romance, friendship comedy, and the initial conflict about the government job condition. Director DhanRaj Lekkala keeps the tone light and colorful here. Charan Arjun’s songs are picturized well in village locales, and the chemistry between Abhinav and Divija carries these portions. The second half shifts gears and digs deeper into the farmer’s perspective. It is here that the film finds its heart. BP’s journey from self doubt to pride in his profession is handled with sincerity. While some comedy tracks feel inserted, the core emotional arc about a farmer’s worth resonates and gives the climax an uplifting feel.
Technically, the film punches above its budget. Charan Arjun’s soundtrack is a major asset, the melodies are rooted and hummable. ‘Garudavega’ Anji’s cinematography captures the beauty of rural Telangana with warmth, making fields and festivals visually rich. Editing by Madhu could be tighter in a few stretches, but the overall presentation is clean. DhanRaj Lekkala’s intention is clear: to deliver an entertainer that also starts a conversation. Hyy Chikitha may not reinvent the rural drama, but its positive message, sincere performances, and strong music make it a worthwhile watch for audiences who enjoy content with heart.
