Kuberaa is a captivating thriller that marks a deviation from Sekhar Kammula’s comfort zone of feel-good entertainers. The film brings together Dhanush and Nagarjuna, two of the most talented actors in the industry, along with Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh in a story that revolves around a beggar’s life and his involvement with a huge amount of money. The promotional material added intrigue and raises buzz. Kuberaa hits big screens on June 20 in multiple languages along with Telugu.
Plot:
The story begins with a CBI officer, Deepak Tej (Nagarjuna), who finds himself in a situation where he has no option but to enter into a deal with Global Enterprises CEO Neeraj Mitra (Jim Sarbh) and his father Mitra (Dalip Tahil). To accomplish his mission, he comes into contact with a roadside beggar, Deva (Dhanush). As the story unfolds, Sameera (Rashmika Mandanna) gets entangled in the narrative and then the story gets complex, and the plot thickens. How all these characters end forms the entire story of Kuberaa.
Performances:
Dhanush delivered stellar performance, riveting portrayal of a beggar, delivered dialogues with ease and liveliness, and made an impact with his screen presence. He lived in the role of beggar bringing authenticity and made the audience rooted for his role as Deva.
Nagarjuna is seen in a completely different role, with impressive expressions and dialogues, and with subtle acts that stand as one of the highlights in the film. He brings the much needed emotion and acts as a powerful bridge in the film.
Rashmika Mandanna delivered a good performance, but her role is just ok in the context of the film. Jim Sarbh and Dalip Tahil leave a lasting impression with their classy act as evil industrialists.

Analysis:
Sekhar Kammula’s writing and direction is top class. He highlighted the scams and emotions in a natural way. Kuberaa is a captivating thriller that showcases Sekhar Kammula’s ability to deviate from his comfort zone and create a powerful impact on the screen. After a riveting first half and story setup, the second half feels a little long. With some fine-tuning of the script and a racy screenplay, the film could have been on a whole new level.
Devi Sri Prasad’s music is in sync with the storyline, and his background score elevated the scenes to the next level. Niketh Bommi’s cinematography turned the film into a realistic one, giving a natural and realistic feel to the proceedings. Karthika Srinivas R’s editing could have been better, with many repetitive scenes. Production values are topnotch.
Kuberaa is a thrilling ride that keeps the audience engaged with its complex plot and powerful performances. While it has its flaws, the film is a testament to Sekhar Kammula’s direction and the talents of Dhanush and Nagarjuna. With some improvements, the film could have been a masterpiece. Nonetheless, it’s a captivating thriller that’s worth watching.
